Personnel Issues
Caution
A caution: Although generally HSC online (hsc.csu.edu.au) is a great resource for industrial Technology, their section on Industrial Relations is incorrect, as it has not been updated to reflect recent changes in Industrial Relations Laws (ie, neither the Workplace Relations Amendment (Work Choices) Act 2005 or Workplace Relations Amendment (Transition to Forward with Fairness) Act 2008) The HSC exams can examine any recent change up to and including anything that happens ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM.

Career and Training Opportunities
•career and training opportunities People need access to development of their knowledge over time, particulalry if changes occur within the business that require them to implement new tools, equipment etc. •specialisation and multi-skilling Specialisation=a person that focuses on one area within a business (eg, an modellor may only be a specialist in 3D models, and send that model to an animator to make it move. This generally happens in bigger businesses that can afford to hire more specialised workers. Generally means that the workers, being more specialised, have a higher level of quality within that job
Multiskilling/Specialisation
Multi skilling is where a worker might be qualified to complete a number of different tasks. This means that the worker has less "down time" as they are more able to do different tasks, rather than just one area. This is generally better for small companies, where, if in the example above, they might need someone who can spend a day modelling, then a day animating etc.
Roles of Industry Personell
•roles of industry personnel
Different people within the business will have different roles, covered by the relevant job descriptions within that job. This may mean that they are members of, or lead, different depts within the business, or take on mutiple roles within the business depending upon the size.

Work Practices
•work practices
There are commonly accepted work practices within industry, and these cannot be changed based upon changes within the industry or business, except in consultation with the workers. For example, if it is a common practice to allow people to go to the toilet whenever they want, then you can't bring in restrictions on this without consultation of the workers. Certain processes must be followed, for example in OHS or in production processes in order to protect workers.
