Open vs True type fonts

These are just standards of fonts in the same way that there are different file formats for images. TTFonts are those that look the same on screen and printed.

Open Type fonts are developed to have better control between different platforms and have different versions of fonts for print and screen. Although this seems like a bit of a hassle, this can be an advantage as it means that the font that is used for the printing, for example, is actually specifically designed for printing, and therefore can look better. Open type fonts can also add more characters to the actual font.
